A large oil & gas company with ageing assets and high production costs driven by well maintenance and capital repairs. Staff were resistant to change and high oil prices were masking the inefficiencies. The goal: improve maintenance to maximise the production put back online - not just make teams work faster.
We designed a new planning process and built the tools to improve logistics and prioritise repairs, then proved it by directly managing a small oilfield. Full rollout followed through a build-operate-transfer model - recruiting and training the field performance managers who would run it.
The maintenance backlog fell and production grew - a 40% decrease in maintenance effort, with the new planning discipline embedded in the teams that now run it.
“The point wasn't to make the teams work faster - it was to put more production back online.” - The engagement principle
